One Room Challenge | Week 5 | Master Bedroom (decor and art)

Updated: Aug 28, 2020

Hello friends! It is the home stretch for the One Room Challenge. Next week is the reveal for all the completed rooms.

This week we are looking at the decor, art, and accessories. All these little things work together like adding jewelry and accessories to an outfit you put together.

If you've missed any of my previous posts, here are the links:

WHAT WE'VE COMPLETED

As of today, we have everything in place in anticipation of our photo shoot! It feels good to be finished and to have our newly designed room in full use. But it isn't reveal week quite yet, so I can show you everything just yet.

PHOTO WALL

There may be a lot of nail holes in the wall now, hiding behind the pictures, but all the framed pieces of art are finally hung!

Some frames are black, some are gold. Some of the art is vintage, other art is modern. All the pieces hanging here are meaningful in some way to my husband and me. Some are sentimental and some are just things we like, but it has been collected over time and I am glad to finally see it all working together.

DECOR AND ACCESSORIES

This is where we began with collecting accessories for our room. Much of what you see remains, but we have added several pieces to complete the look. We've added some pretty design books and a couple larger scale pieces that work better on the dresser.

LAMPS

We had some trial and error with the table lamp for the dresser area. I tried at least three different types before I settled upon the final one.

The blue-gray ceramic lamp is actually quite large and dominated the dresser and art behind it. I tried to make this one work because it was one of my thrift shop finds, the price was great, a mere $6! But once I hung the art, I did not think it was the right one.

My next try was the black glass lamp with the brass accents. I really loved the shape of this lamp, but it was too small. I am hoping I can find a use for it somewhere else in the house.

We finally found the dark navy lighting fixture. With its tall cylindrical shape and natural linen shade, it turned out to be just the right scale for the space!
